In my time as an intern for The Southern Maryland Enterprise, my hometown paper, I worked on several feature stories that focused on the people and businesses that make Southern Maryland what it is.
This was the last story I wrote for the Enterprise before returning to Towson. I spoke to several students who had been off at college for a few years, and what advice they would give to the most recent graduating class of high schools in the area.
A small sailboat racing series, called the Barnacle Cup, started out with a group of friends getting together on a Saturday to race around St. Clement’s Island at the tip of St. Mary’s County, Md. This is the story of the Barnacle Cup and how the group came to be.
For the 15th year in a row, hundreds of people gathered at Leonardtown High School in St. Mary’s County, Md. for the Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. I covered the event for the Enterprise, and spoke to a number of participants and cancer survivors who were at the event.
